2001 MGM Winter Tour Finale

1st Go Results:
2nd Go Draw

Judges:  Allen Jordon -- Butch Kirby

1.  Danell Tipton -  99 Downtown Brown -  Harper Morgan Auger  85  21-20  $3,916.67.
Went to the right… looked a little slow to me.  Spurred him a little.

2nd Go: VC8  Hurricane  Stace Smith
The big yellow that has been one of the rankest bulls out there this season.  Jesse Bail made a nice ride on him here last year and got hosed.   Smith’s other bull X-5 Johnnie Rotten won’t get bucked here.  They were tipping him and he ran a leg out the slats.  Why in the heck someone would ship an untipped bull 2,000 miles—geez—they oughta to tip Stace instead.  Who cares if he gets down in the chute and limps.

2/.   Cody Hancock -  600 Hollywood - Burns   84 19-22.  $2,447.91.
I thought Judge Allen missed the difficulty on this bull.  Bull went to the right—pretty darn bucky then about half way through hesitated ….moved …..then gathered himself and came hard again.  He was sluggish but he’da warped a lot of guys.

2nd GO:   CT2  Skeeter  Western
A little creep but one they’ve been in the high 80’s on this year.

2/. Slade Malone  - 678  Jammin Jimmie  -  Growney (Kish)  84 22-21.  $2,447.91
Right back to the left.  Big BW (semi paint)… moved a lot and walked in it.  Sure was difficult.   Agents said that was an off day for him.  Slade had a little trouble at the end but you could see that he can sure ride.

2nd GO:   G21  Dodge Dakota  Rafter G
Big time bucker.  Best bull at NFR and Summer Tour Finals last year.   Bounty is off here.

 4.   Vince Stanton   P45  Diamond Cutter   Andrews  82 20-20.  $979.17.
Went to the right—right there—two rounds then jumped and kicked.  I can see why Vince has been winning.  Perfect form.

 2nd Go  -73 Spotted Fever   Diamond G
Agents who have seen this young bull said he really rank but they haven’t seen him get tested.  Was at Rapid City in January.

Lee Akin   420 Gusto   Harper Morgan Auger  22-22  DQ slap.
Woulda been 90.   Electric —to the left right in the gate then back to the right.  Spurred him on the reverse.  Good ride.  Said Lee is nursing an injury coming in.

2nd GO:   VT Skoal’s Helter Skelter   Andrews
A 23 point handful.  Think he’s unridden this year.

Philip Elkins  9 Stray Dog Skoal   Honeycutt  24 23?  2.1.
The rankest bull out but then he got Philip when he turned back away from his hand.  BIG leap then to the left.   Said Philip is also nursing an injury.

2nd GO:   301  Copenhagen CASH   Growney/Kish
You know him… the big paint—supposedly a calf out of MR. T.   Outcome depends which way CASH turns back.  Into his hand Philip will ride him easy.   Away from it—probably won’t.   Philip will probably advance to the Semi’s even if he doesn’t ride this bull.

Jason McClain  - 008  Boot Scoot  Classic   22+ 22+  4.9.
This yellow bull was my second best bull out.  Went to the left and really got it.

2nd GO:  -75 Mister USA  Diamond G
Another one of those Gilbert calves that has been rank but hasn’t been tested.   Jason will probably advance even if he bucks off.

Blue Stone -  444  Squirt   -  Burns    18 ?  3.4.
Not so sure the judges say much of this.  The announcers and clowns were screwing around when Blue nodded.   Throwing novelty items into the stands.  Allen 18’ed the bull but he was a 21.  Turned back good and was going to buck.

2nd Go:  R410  Copenhagen T Bug  Diamond G
A RICKY calf that is unridden in 7,987,435 trips… or 200… or 100… whatever.  Said he really bucked at Rapid City.

Mike Moore   C26  Copenhagen Dart  Honeycutt   21+ ?  3.3.
Didn’t get to see much of this brindle.  Long leap then to the right but not much kick.

2nd GO:   M2  Copenhagen Warrior  Cervi Brothers
The paint that was super rank most of the winter.  Had to be tipped when he got here.  They were told to tip him at Denver and San Antonio.  Government bureaucracy problems, I guess.   If Mike get him started the bull will give up (perhaps that’s the reason Terry Williams sold him).

Come Bouvier   H1 Rush  Classic  21-22  2.5.
Also didn’t get to see much of RUSH.  Went to the left and really dropped his shoulder on the turn back. Come slapped him and the match was over.

2nd GO:  238  Lighting Strike -  Western
The young bull that TKO’ed Hancock at Red Bluff.

Jesse Bail --  X Crouching Tiger -  Honeycutt   19-19  7.7.
He was about a 17 pointer.  Ought to call him “Runing Alley Cat”.  Went to the left then took off down the chutes.  Jesse ended up crashing into the chutes.   Hurt him. Jesse made one of the best bronc rides you’d ever want to see.  90 points on #174 Firecracker of Kesler’s.   Sold the whole rodeo.   Say what you will -- 90’s DO MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

2nd GO:   080  Red Dog Skoal.   Beutler/Gaylord
Really good draw. Good bull that Jesse should ride.  Stock contractor got turned in for not having an ownership marking on the Dog.  Jesse is probably going have to ride in order to advance.

Josh O’Byrne   542  Free Loader   Growney/Kish  21+ 21+  3.8.
Based on PERFORMANCE I’da had to 22 this little muley.   LEAPED in it to the right.  Really cool bull.

2nd GO:   Copenhagen Yo Yo
Taller than Dikembe.  Dissenters say if you can get him started he’ll just lumber around but he was really rank at Pocatello.  He’s the kind that Josh can ride.   Josh might advance even if he bucks off.  He came here third in Tour points.
