2001 MGM Winter Tour Finale

Top 8 Semi's Draw

Judges:  Allen Jordon -- Butch Kirby

Note:  This is sudden death so they start over again but revert to the two head average if 4 don’t ride in this round.  In the semis and finals they can also have the same bull they’ve already got on in the 1st or 2nd go rounds.

Cody Hancock     906 Young Gun (click here for picture)   Pinz
The outstanding bull that was the rankest bull the first time through the bulls at the 2000 NFR.  Lee Akin came back to ride him in the 10th round.  He was just a good one at Pocatello when Jim Leatherberry rode him.  Agents said he was rank the other day at Sisters, OR.   Marked a 22-23 in 4.1 and 22-24 in 3.2 at Klamath Falls.

Cody is the only guy to cover two bulls and won the two head average with 159 points.  $3,937.50 more dollars.  Total World Championship Points won this far:  $8,322.91.

Jesse Bail   695  Mighty Whitey   Growney (Kish)
NFR bull that has been pretty rank lately.  Was marked a 22-22  in 4.9 I the finals at Redding but can be ranker.  Not a little spinner…. he has some moves and a will to win.

Jesse is going in second in the average with 91 points:  $2,937.50 in ave. Total Points:  $6,854.17

Danell Tipton   VC8  Hurricane  Stace Smith
Yep… the very same bull he got on last night.  Healthy you’d figure Danell to ride.   Just depends on how bad his groins really are.   I’m sure not going to look at them.

3rd in ave with 85 points: $1,958.33. Total Points: $5,875.00.

Mike Moore  SIL   Skoal Mountain   Pinz
A new acquisition that agents say has been really bucking.     Was marked 22-21 with Myron Duarte at Klamath (no time recorded but he rode him 5-6) and was marked a 23-24 but again there was no buck off time on the judge’s sheets.

4/5 in /average with 84 points.  $489.58. Total Points: $3,427.08.

Slade Malone   73 Rampage II  Harper/Morgan/Auger
Has really been bucking but he ran off at the Mesquite Summer Finals last October.  Unridden in all the short rounds Harper has had, was marked 23 23+ in 4.5 and a 22 ?  2.1 at Corpus Christi.

4/5 in average: $489.33.  Total Points:  $2,937.49

Vince Stanton  521 Wind Mill  Beutler/Gaylord
Slick headed, floppy eared, black Brahmer/cross.  Good draw.   Just stays right there… classy.   He’s usually in the ultra juicy spinner or Semi Rank pen at the NFR.  They don’t ride him but once or twice a season.   He’s marked a 23 on buck-offs and a 22 when he gets ridden.   Danell won Lawton on him last year—88 points.   Be the one you’d want in this group of really good bulls.

Total Championship Money: $979.17

Philip Elkins  008 Boot Scoot   Scotty Lovelace
Juicy spinner that really bucked  with Jason McClain here the first perf  22+ 22+  4.9.    Don’t know that they’ve ridden him at a rodeo since Fort Worth.   This bull is very HOT… the bull fighters, 9 chute bosses (and the gatemen) better hide.   At Bandera the other day SCOOT was marked 23 23+ in 2.2

Philip has been spending a lot of time with the Justin Healers so something must be hurting.   What isn’t hurting is his appetite.   When he isn’t in the Healer room he’s in the free buffet line.   Remember the movie Animal House?  John Belushi?

Jason McClain     604  No Can Do   Growney (Kish)
Came in place of 551 Fire Ball –Limping in Livermore (make a good movie Title).   Has different days… can drill himself or be a bad little Puerto Rican.   Jason made the semi’s based on his /tour standings coming in.  Because it is now sudden death he could still win $14,000.   That’s why it so important to work on tour points during the season.   Can be Kish’s rankest bull but like his owners—he’s a little flaky.

Rerides:
301  Copenhagen Cash  Growney (bucked off Philip in the 2nd round)
-73   Spotted Fever  Diamond G    (bucked off Vince in the 2nd round)
VT  Helter Skelter   Andrews  Bucked off Lee in the second round.  Doesn’t fit these bulls but I needed a buddy  for Sammy’s calf 763 Little Willie who’s in the top 4.

Bulls in the Top 4 Finals:

763    Little Willie    Andrews
Might be too small to be here but he’s outstanding.   A calf out of bucking bull of the year OUTLAW WILLIE and a  SCAT KAT daughter.   Marked a 22+ 22 in 3.2 with Greg Whitlow at Crockett.  Danell rode him earlier in the year and he never turned back but he is REALLY young.

573   Gold Coast Gambler  Growney (Kish)
Just a classy spinner.   Might be too nice.  Shoulda brought another bull of Donnie’s—we had 20 good enoughs to choose from.   Greg Whitlow won the short go at Redding on Gambler… 86 points—the only bull they rode and Kish had the entire short go.

610  High Voltage   Beutler/Gaylord
High Octane Spinner.  Really can get to ginning but he’s a little flat for these judges.   They don’t ride him but once or twice a year and lots of wolves show up to try him..

-73   Mr. USA   Diamond G  (JR and Sue Ellen Gilbert)
Actually I think their names are Steve and Cindy... Cindi… Syn-DEE…????? .   They were kind enough to let us buck this outstanding calf two performances in a row.  REALLY… REALLY… REALLY outstanding with Jason McClain in the second performance.

Rerides:
542    Real Deal.   Growney (Kish)  What a cool bull.  Got Josh in the first performance.  Lots of blow… very cool bull having his best year.          Bucked off Blue Stone in the short go at Redding.

420    Gusto.   Harper/Morgan/Auger The electric little bull that they got Lee Akin for slapping in the first round.  Would’ve been 90-92.   Here only because he gets ridden a little too often.

99  Down Town Brown   Harper/Morgan/Auger   Danell won the first round on him—85 points.   Can buck better than that.
