If you weren't there, let me tell you, the three year
old bulls bucked. They were rank both nights !!! The boys only covered
4 the first night, and 8 the next with a 90 point ride on Ken Baker's
"Highway to Bell". The majority of the Derby bulls didn't
even get started.
The 2002 Buckers Gold Standard Futurity Champion, "Lightning
Jack", from Gene Baker / Lyndal Hurst, was won in the progressive
drawing, by John Pinkerton. John had decided the night before, that
if he won he would sell the bull in the sale. He did win, he did
sell the bull, and the partnership of Bradford / Brown, of Weatherford,
TX and Tallulah, LA respectively, were the high bidders. The partnership
bought this two year old Houdini son and Futurity Champion
bull for an unprecedented $31,000.00!
