MGM Second Perf Report
More people. Guys rode better.
Judges: Miller & Overstreet
Cody Hancock on 714 Slammer of Burns. 91 22-23. Spotted bull went
into Cody's hand (right). I'da 22-22 ed it for a total of 88. Cliff
felt like this bull was harder to ride than 788 because he didn't
kick much but then Cliff's parents musta loved playing basketball
so much that they dribbled him to kindergarden every day. Scrambled
his brain. TJ Korkow flanking.
Josh O'Byrne on 788 Classical T of Burns. 90 22-22. To get my spread
I'da 23-23'ed it. Total of 92. Dark colored MR T descendent went
to the right--away from Josh's hand. Obvious first place but a couple
guys on the back of the churtes said Josh slapped him. I never saw
it. TJ Korkow flanking.
Jason Legler on 45 Tombstone of Westerns. 88 22-22. Old bull had
a good day. To the right--away from his hand. A little heavy and
sluggish which made him more difficult. Jason rode him perfectly.
At a rodeo you coulda marked the bull a 21- but in this pen Id'a
marked it a 21 point ride on a 19 point bull. An 80.
Vince Stanton on 102 MR. Biscuits of Honeycutts. 87 22-22. A fat
muley F1... started really good to right --away from Vince's hand...
made two rounds and went back along the chutes. Here Ida made it
a 20 ride on an 18 bull. 76.
Robbie Russell on 264 Broken Bone of Westerns. ? ? 2.32. A light
colored spot... a fatso. Had a good fake and Robbie bit.... the
dust.
Jeremi Kirkland on 666 Shiver N Shake of Keslers. ? 22 3.0. Two
big jumps then to the right--away from his hand. Bull has so much
forward movement that he's tough away from a guy's mit.
Bryan Richardson on 840 Evidence of Keslers. 23+ 23? 2.36. Young
but good sized yellow. Really kicked and went away from Bryan's
hand (to the left). He's mean too.
Luke Kelley on 311 Jack Daniels of Sutton. 20+ 21 7.83. Never spun
but bucked pretty hard. Thick made yellow with a white face. Luke
made two long 7 second efforts here. Shouldn't've bucked off either.
Efforts there but has a technical problem.
Johnny Chavez on K7 Que Ball of Honeycutts. 22+ 22+ 3.61. Huge
whale. Yellowish. Couple of heavy lumberin jumps then to the right.
John never made the corner. The said Andrade was 90 on this bull
at Lakeside a few days ago so he must be good if you get around
there.
Jessie Bail on 233 Wild Thing of Rosser's. ? 24? 2.21. The testiest
bull I saw out tonight. Fire plug black does some frunky front foot
walkin around a tight corner. Not many are going to get by him.
Justin Andrade on 414 Lil Yellow Whale. 23-21 7.65. Really kicks
high. Went a ways and then to the left--away from his hand. Lots
of dust comes up off his back. Maybe a 21+.
Terry Don West on A41 of Rosser's. Terry VI'ed. On crutches with
a busted ankle.
--------------------------------------
I talked to the judges after the perf. Usually I leave them alone
but I like both these guys. Solid character and integrity. Numbers
are good. Always try. My kind of judges. I thought they were worth
the trouble.
Two different problems were in evidence here. Problems that a lot
of judge's have.
TOM....
I noticed last night when they rode only three bulls he had two
guys with the exact same bull and ride scores. That bothered me
but I didn't say anything. Word on the street has it that I'm down
on the judging program so I kept my mouth shut. Plus I like these
two guys. If I say something to them it's because I care about them.
And for the record I AM down on the program but not the judges themselves.
Tonight they ride four and Thomas has two 45's --23 rides on 22
bulls and two 44's--22 rides on 22 bulls. All four bulls the same.
My point to him was that as a judge it is his job to decide which
is better--to place them. He needs to think how many points guys
need to be in order to win what they are supposed to. This tie deal
sucks. That is not judging.
CLIFF (Puff Daddy)
Actually what I was talking to Tom about--Cliff does. He just thinks
about how many points a guy need to be to win what he is supposed
to. However, besides being wrong on Josh and Cody's bulls, I asked
him why he marked all four bulls that got ridden--22. A bull rider
looks at the posted sheets and has to think that Cliff has no clue.
Tom also had four 22's but he is known more a a bronc guy even though
I think he won the BR world in college. They will let Tom slide
but they expect Cliff to know better. He may be our best bull judge
day in and day out.
There were obvious differences in the four bulls and they should've
been reflected on the judge's sheets.

TOMORROW NIGHT:
Top 8 Semi Finals: If no one rides-- the top 4 move into the finals.
Vince Stanton on R410 T-Bug Diamond G. Rankest bull at the 2001
MGM. Big bucky sucker.
Jason Legler on 301 Cash Growney. The Big Spot. Think he was 3rd
for the bull of the year in 2001. He's the one Jason wanted.
Cody Hancock on 10 Freckles of Nelsons (Salt River). The best bull
I saw on that network PBR telecast. Someone said Cody nearly rode
him at Fort Worth.
Josh O'Bryne on 26 Juice Monkey of Salt Rivers. Been oustanding
at the PBRs but Josh had him here a couple of years ago and he just
hopped and skipped. If I'da known that 115 Slingshot was in Skip
Beelers herd I'da brought him instead of Juice Monkey--when 780
Diamonds Ghost came up crippled.
Justin Andrade on A18 Alligator of Salt Rivers. This could be the
round. Really souped up spinner. Always really good but can be outstanding.
Jesse Bail on 238 Lightning Strike of Westerns. Legitimate bull
of the year candidate. Really big but rides good if you can get
him started.
Bryan Richardson on 672 Prime Time of Beelers (Salt River). Voted
best bull at the 2001 NFR. Guess he has spit the bit at a PBR not
too long ago but for three seconds he is in a class all by himself.
Tarpon style leaps.
Jeremi Kirkland on CL Clayton's Pet of Nelsons (Salt River). Well
known bull. Not many out there as good as him. Can go quite aways
before he turns back.
Rerides:
M16 Smoke of Harpers
M11 Turn the Page of Harpers
221 Dark town of Harpers
