2000 NFR       SEVENTH PERFORMANCE

Pen of Bulls:    THE QUACKERS

Crack out the chesse and wine.  The NFR bull riders can eat and drink while they are riding this pen of bulls.   Quack.. Quack--Duck spinners.   Might ride all 15.

Not much to talk about.....B  O  R  I  N  G. This the first trip on 7 of these bulls and the second trip on 8.

The judges are going to have to get some spread or they will be all jammed up.  As usual.   Maybe we need 8 judges... or better yet...16... hey.... 32 might work best.

OR... let the audience vote like they do on the Millionaire show.

Robey Condra                        7X   Cross Fire                                   Classic (Lovelace)

They were 90 on this bull at a PBR.    Supposed to be a fast spinner.  May walk in a circle--who knows?

Cody Hancock                        U19   Passport                                    Franklin

Best bucking bull in this pen.  We were short one and Passport got drafted. Bull bucked off Fred in the third go round.   Bull scored 87 points.

Tyler Fowler                           171  Prime Time                                 Flying U/Rosser

One of my favorite bulls... this little brindle always gives it 100%.  He’s the Tyler Fowler of the NFR bulls.   Has ground problems at times.   Spins REAL fast but doesn’t kick much.

Rob Bell                                 69   Titanic                                          Catelina

Corey Check split the 3rd go on him.  85 points.   This bull is a little deceptive. Pretty strong and shifts gears..... lets off on the gas.... then pops the clutch.

Jesse Bail                               610   HighVoltage                       Beutler/Gaylord

Young bull that starts pretty juicy then flattens out.   Got two NFR contenders at OKC.   One of them mighta been Jesse--I can’t remember for sure.  Wouldn’t think it possible.   Boettcher made a nice ride on him at the Mesquite deal.

Philip Elkins               17  Donna Vold’s Steamboat Panda      Broken Arrow

Good bull.  Robey was 85 on him and split the 3rd go round.  Custer was 94 on him at the Steamboat PBR.  Looks dumpy in the pens but bucks bigger.

Shane Drury                                 40   Exodus                        Harper/Morgan/Auger

Black bull bucked good with Potter in the 3rd go round.   Jumped out of it around the 5 second mark but jumped and kicked strong.  Was 84 and won 4th.

Greg Potter                             581   Diamond Cutter          Classic (Lovelace)

Been good all year.   Bucked okay with Bell in the 3rd round...  85 split 3rd. On his best day Greg could win the round.

Lee Akin                                 311  Why Not Minot                           Harry Vold

I heard that the Minot ND rodeo committee bought this bull and gave him to Harry. Take more than buying a bull to make me go to Minot.   311 goes to lots of big rodeos. No telling how much money has been won on him.   Unlike the Texas bull riders he’s lost some of his gas.   Into your hand you can eat a sandwich and day trade stocks.  Away from your hand you have to pay attention.   Never seen this bull not buck.

Dan Wolfe                               P57   Wanna Dance                 Diamond G  (Gilbert)

Steve and Cindy’s bull.   Was juicy at Cheyenne.  Saw where he was ridden after that with a score in the low 80’s.

Danell Tipton                          2   Western Way                                 Sutton

Born the same year Robey was.   Usually a 21.   Condra was 88 on him the last weekend at Brookings.  Usually reverses it.   Wild as a sixteen year old girl in a tank top.

Kagan Sirett                            521  Windmill                          Beutler Gaylord

Black Brahmer that got dropped down a pen because he didn’t turn back in the gate like he’s supposed to.   Lee was 84 and split 4th on him in the 5th go round. This bull bucked every time I saw him until here.  Go Figure.

Corey Check                          L41   White Line Fever             Powder River (Franzen)

Fatso bucked off Akin quickly in the 3rd round.  The judges liked this bull. Deceptive.  Also got Duarte and O’Byrne this year.  Probably reverse it. Very smart.   Very fat.

Fred Boettcher                       A10   El Nino                                      Five Star

Been a solid bucker for a long time.  Bounty bull.  Been in the high 80’s on him this year.  From Cuba or wherever the heck Davie is.  Can go either way.

This bull doesn’t buck and George Gibbs and Steve Knowles better not be crossing any streets.  Dead Skunks in the middle of the road--stinking to high Heaven.  Stu Sellars days will also be numbered.

Josh O’Byrne                            231   Mad Max                               Stace Smith

Been good but went too far and was slow with Tyler in the 5th round.  Bull scored 84 points but can be and should be better than that tonight.

Rerides:   (Not necessarily in order)

3F           Spin Doctor                          Andrews

Juicier than anything in this pen. Got Danell in the 5th round.

70           Black Cat Moon                   Western

Good bull that didn’t buck much. Jesse was 82 and split 6th on him in the 5th round.

58           Little Wasp                           Guidry

Young bull.  Chased tail.   Dan was 81 on him and didn’t place in the fifth round.   Had been A Team material. May have to jerk Vernon’s flank pass and fly the regular guy in.
