Round 1 Results

Judge's Score Order: Overstreet-Davis-Horton-Robinson

Rode 6.

Blue Stone -- -75 Mr. USA -- Gilbert

94 23-23-24. The little bull went away from Blue's hand... ground was sorry --little bull had ground trouble but kept gathering himself and trying. This made the bull more difficult and Blue never made a bobble. Each judge 24'ed the ride. Just right I thought.

1. $13,522.20

Mike Moore -- 705 Lip Tricks -- Corey & Horst.

22-21-23-24. This mighta been my go round winner. Bull really bucked hard and Mike stuck it on him. Blue's ride came first and I think it chilled some of the judges--scared to go higher with 5-6 bulls left to buck. I'da probably gone 24-24 if I had been 47 on Blue.

2. $10,686.90

Lee Akin -- 101 Border Patrol -- Flying 5

85 22-21-20-21. Into Lee's hand. Bull has been crippled. lost a bunch of weight. Good ride by a guy who's ridden tough all year.

$5,743.30

Myron Duarte -- 86 Boo Boo -- Stace Smith

85 22-20-20-22. Most guy's wouldn't got the whistle on BOO... more of a baby E... wild... looked like he was giving up at the end.

3/5. $5,743.30

Philip Elkins -- 46 Zandy -- Andrews

85 21-21-21-21. Into his hand and stayed for 6. Philip had to pay attention after Zandy jumped out of it. Solid ride.

3/5. $5,743.30

Cody Hancock -- VC8 Hurricane -- Stace Smith

79 19-20-19-19. A duck spinner. Not good enough to buck again here.

Vince Stanton -- 73 Rampage II -- Harper Morgan

22-23-23-24 ?. Lifted Vince up the first leap then turned back away from his hand. If you get back on this bull he kicks so high you have NO chance. Vince looked out but the match was over before then.

Rob Bell -- 690 Mardi Gras -- Thomas Taylor

21-22-23-22 4.6. Had 301 Copen Cash of Kish's but was crippled. Bull went aways then turned back away from Rob's hand. Supposed to ride him--just didn't.

Jesse Bail -- 906 Young Gun -- Pinz

23-24-22-23 3.1. Bull bucked hard... kinda got screwed up coming out of the chute...turned back too quick and didn't have enough room. Maybe the best bull out.

Fred Boettcher -- R8 Copen Kish -- Kerby

22-22-21-22 2.8. Welled Fred quick. How would you like to have your wrap and get ready to slide and ride and they stop you.... uh... there is NO FRICKIN FLANK MAN. Geez. Fortunately, chute boss Darrell Baron was on the backside and within 2 seconds had the bull flanked. Better flanker than half the people here. i'm sure there is a logical reason why it happened but there is no ACCEPTABLE excuse.

Cory McFadden -- 50 Hammer Time -- Bad Company

23-21-22-23 4.7. Little bull really bucked good. Away from Corey's hand and finally got him. Good ride for what seemed longer than 4.7. Casey Dugan said Hammer Time has only been ridden 4 times TOTAL in his entire career. If you consider how many times he's been bucked and the quality of bull riders he faces--that's really something.

Josh O'Byrne -- 03 I Ninety -- Corey & Horst

21-22-22-20 3.0. Didn't look like he was going to turnback but he looked like a handful to me.

Jason McClain -- K66 Rapid Fire -- Big Bend

24-23-24-24 6.8. Outsanding effort by both bull and rider. Rapid fire had him on the initial turnback but Jason kicked loose and caught back up. I'm sure Jason expected the bull to jump out of it--which he did--but I think he didn't expect the bull to turnback into his hand again. I'd rather watch this kid on rank bulls than anyone. He's special.

Jason Legler -- 080 Red Dog -- Beutler & Son.

24-22-23-23 6.9. Had him knocked out then jumped out of it. Must've broken Jason's concentration. This guy isn't a good loser. He won't make that mistake again.

Kagan Sirett -- 77 Yellow Jacket -- Flying 5.

23-23-23-23 2.92. No contest--away from Kagan's hand and just dusted him. Was the first bull out. If he'da been towards the end he mighta won the best bull ward. Best trip I've seen him have in a couple of years.

Bull Scores: (Think it pays $750-$500-$250)

1. 93. Rapid Fire Big Bend

2/3. 92. 906 Young Gun Pinz & 080 Red Dog Beutler & Son

There was a tie breaker of some sorts --probably the single highest score.

92. 73 Rampage II Harper Morgan

92. -75 MR USA Gilbert

90. Lip Tricks Corey & Horst

89. Hammer Time Bad Company

87. R8 Copen Kish Kerby

85. 03 I 90 Corey & Horst

84. 46 Zandy Andrews

84. 86 Boo Boo Smith

77. VC8 Hurricane Smith (yes... the 2001 bucking Bull of the YEAR)
